Reduced to Accessory After the Fact
People of the State of California v. K.J.

Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery

Charges Dismissed at Two Separate Hearings
People v. Montez Fowler

The prosecution accused Mr. Alimouri’s client of being an accomplice to attempted murder. Mr. Alimouri managed to get the case dismissed twice. After the first dismissal, the prosecution quickly refiled the charges, but Mr. Alimouri secured another dismissal. Achieving this result twice is very rare.

In this case, the prosecution said Mr. Alimouri’s client was an accomplice in a violent stabbing caught on camera. The client and his co-defendant went to an apartment, knocked on the door, and when the victim answered, the co-defendant stabbed him several times. Mr. Alimouri’s client was present during the attack. The prosecution argued that he did not help the victim and left the scene right after, which they said showed he was part of a planned attack.

In the end, Mr. Alimouri persuaded two different judges to dismiss his client’s case completely, despite strong objections from a high-ranking supervising prosecutor who became personally involved in trying to get a conviction.

During this time, Mr. Alimouri’s client was held on a $1 million bail he could not afford. Thanks to Mr. Alimouri’s determination, his client is now free.
